David Lloyd
David Lloyd was brought up in Lerwick, Shetland, Wick, Caithness and Aberdour, Fife and much of his work reflects his engagement with North East Scotland, its coast, buildings and people. Lloyd studied at Edinburgh College of Art in the 50s though to quote him, “I didn’t cover myself with glory - too many distractions for a teenager lately released from parental control I fear!”
After a long career in Advertising and Public Relations working for an American multi-national company in London, Sydney and Zurich, Lloyd retired in 1991 and returned to live in the small town of Keith, Banffshire. In order to make up for lost opportunity at ECA he would return to art school - specifically Grays School of Art in Aberdeen where he graduated with a Masters Degree in Fine Arts (MFA).
He now tutors in Art on a part-time basis. “The superb coastline of Moray provides me with inspiration.” He says, “Its ever changing moods, colour and topography are my major pre-occupation.”
David Lloyd exhibited in Australia, Switzerland, Germany and the USA
